Celebrating Professionals in Health Information Technology Careers

If you appreciate the convenience of being able to access your medical records online, you might thank the professionals who organize and manage that complex data. In the U.S., such specialists are being recognized November 6-12 as part of National Health Information & Technology Week. It’s a great time learn more about these health information technology careers!

If you’re interested in a career in medical administration, we have good news. In the U.S., such jobs are slated to grow  annually (must faster than average) through the next six years, from about 186,600 in 2014 to 217,600 in 2024. The median rate of pay? Last year according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Employment Statistics Program it was $37,110.

ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Tech can help you get there through career training programs in Medical Coding and Billing, Medical Office Assistant and Medical Assisting Technology, all of which prepare students to sit for required certification exams. Our graduates can then pursue rewarding, fast-paced jobs in health departments, hospitals, physicians’ offices, medical and surgical supply firms, insurance companies, collection agencies, laboratories, chiropractic practices and other medical settings.

 

Preparing to pursue health information technology careers

Hands-on training for health information technology careers gives students hands-on practice working with the systems and technology they’ll encounter on the job. Through our Medical Coding and Billing program, for example, students train on industry software, learn to transcribe medical reports, and process insurance claims. Our Medical Office Assistant curriculum teaches a variety of competencies needed for office administration, including conventions related to coding, patient exams, diagnosis and claims processing. Plus, our Medical Assistant Technology training enables grads to handle both office administration and direct patient care. And instructors bring years of experience and passion for these careers into the classroom!
